Itinerary
Upon your arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, our representative will warmly welcome you and assist with your transfer to Shillong, the picturesque capital of Meghalaya.
The journey covers approximately 130 km and takes around 3 hours by road. En route, stop at the breathtaking Umiam Lake (Barapani), the largest man-made lake in Meghalaya, surrounded by lush green hills, Khasi pine forests, and stunning natural scenery—making it one of the region's most popular attractions.
If time permits, visit the beautiful Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians and the serene Ward’s Lake. In the evening, enjoy your leisure time exploring Shillong at your own pace. You may take a stroll through the lively Police Bazaar, a popular destination for shopping, local cuisine, and handicrafts.
After breakfast, set out on a scenic excursion to Cherrapunji (Sohra), famously known as one of the wettest places on Earth. The drive takes you through breathtaking landscapes, offering spectacular views of the rolling Khasi Hills and lush green valleys.
En route, visit the unique Elephant Falls, one of Meghalaya's most popular waterfalls. Upon reaching Sohra, stop at the Duwan Sing Syiem View Point to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding hills and deep gorges.
Continue your sightseeing with visits to the magnificent Seven Sisters (Nohsngithiang) Falls and the stunning Nohkalikai Falls, one of the tallest plunge waterfalls in India. Later, explore the fascinating Mawsmai Cave, a naturally formed limestone cave featuring impressive rock formations and narrow passages. You will also visit the peaceful Ramakrishna Mission, an important cultural and spiritual landmark in Cherrapunji.
After a memorable day of sightseeing, drive back to Shillong.
After breakfast, drive to Mawlynnong, popularly known as Asia’s Cleanest Village and often referred to as "God’s Own Garden." Located approximately 100 km from Shillong, the journey takes around 3 hours through the scenic countryside of Meghalaya.
Explore this beautifully maintained village, renowned for its spotless surroundings, eco-friendly lifestyle, and warm Khasi hospitality. Visit the famous Sky Walk, an 80-foot bamboo watchtower that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the village, lush plantations, and the distant plains of Bangladesh. During your visit, you'll also get an insight into the unique culture, traditions, and lifestyle of the Khasi community.
Continue with a short trek to the nearby Riwai Village to witness the remarkable Living Root Bridge. These extraordinary natural bridges are created by training the aerial roots of rubber trees over many years. Strong enough to support several people at once, these living structures continue to grow and can last for hundreds of years, making them one of Meghalaya's most fascinating natural attractions.
Later, proceed to Dawki, a picturesque border town famous for the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River. The river is so transparent that boats often appear to be floating in mid-air. Enjoy the stunning natural beauty and, if you wish, experience a country boat ride on the Umngot River (boating charges are extra). You will also have the opportunity to visit the India–Bangladesh Border, an important trading point between the two countries.
After a memorable day exploring Meghalaya's natural and cultural wonders, drive back to Shillong.
